Acolytes
The acolyte ministry is for youth in 7th through 12th grades. The
acolytes serve (candle lighting, etc.) at our traditional Sunday
services in the sanctuary. Bob Boyd is the coordinator (609-484-8006 or bmboyd695@comcast.net

Baptisms
Our pastor administers the sacrament of baptism to children and
adults in the worship services. The baptism of children focuses on the
parents/guardians and their responsibility of keeping the baptismal vows
as an example to their child of God’s grace. Adult baptism is a public
profession of faith made by the person being baptized. Regular (weekly)
worship attendance is vital in the keeping of these vows. Contact the

Bible Studies
Numerous Bible and Christian book studies go on throughout the year.
Men’s and women’s groups meet as well. They meet at the church
building and in members’ homes. Contact the church office

College Care Packages
The "We Care for College Students" team helps provide those
wonderful goodie boxes every college student in our congregation needs
to survive! If you’d like to help, contact Sharon

Communion Stewards
Our communion stewards set up the Sanctuary and the Great Hall for
communion on the first Sunday of each month. Sharon Wilson (609-652-7978
or wilsonclam@comcast.net )
is the steward to contact if you’d like to help.
Congregational Care Team
Our CCT is made up of compassionate people who care for individuals
in our congregation dealing with various health issues. Val Civera
(609-646-3180) is the CCT coordinator.
Choirs
We have a number of choirs to choose from:
Cherub Choir - (age 4 through 2nd grade) - sings most
Sundays at the 10:45 service in the Sanctuary (September through April).
Practice is held on Wednesdays from 4:30 - 5:00 p.m.
Chancel Choir - (grades 3 through 8) - sings twice per month at
the 10:45 service in the Sanctuary (September through April). Practice
is held on Wednesdays from 5:00 - 5:30.
Senior Choir - sings every Sunday at the 10:45 service in the
Sanctuary (September through mid-June) and practices Wednesdays at 7:30
p.m. They also perform an annual Christmas Cantata. Seasonal rehearsals
for the Cantata are held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesdays, before regular Senior
Choir practice.
Special Choruses - There are also special choruses who sing at
special times throughout the year. Practice schedules are listed in the
weekly Mainstay, which is handed out in worship.

Covered Dish Dinners
Church covered dish dinners are held nearly monthly from September

Financial Stewards
The financial stewards help with the counting of the offering after
services. Members of the church may contact Becky Lincoln

if they are interested in serving.
KidPraise
KidPraise is a program for kids (1st, 2nd, & 3rd grade) at
the 10:45 a.m. worship service during the winter schedule (click on
worship schedule at top). Kids are dismissed from the worship
service to the KidPraise classroom with the coordinator, Cassie Poulson
(609-965-2989). Please contact Cassie if you'd like to learn more
about this ministry.
Kids for Christ
KFC is a once a month ministry that meets from October thru
May. Kids 2nd thru 6th are welcome for fellowship, activities and
a Bible Lesson. For more information, please contact Susan Murdock

Lay Readers
Our lay readers help to lead worship by reading the Call to Worship
scripture and leading in various prayers in the Traditional Sunday
Services. If you’d like to be a lay reader, contact Fran Bell
(609-652-1470).
Lent
During the Lenten season (40 days before Easter), we hold a worship
service and luncheon on Wednesdays from 12:00 noon to 1:30 p.m. These
are held at various churches in Absecon and Galloway. Contact the church

Mainstay
The Mainstay is the weekly newsletter given out in our worship
services. Get a copy when you come to worship so you know what’s going
on in our family! If you’d like an announcement to go into The

. The deadline is every Wednesday at 10 a.m.
Missions
Our Missions ministry: encourages and supports youth and adult
mission trips; works in cooperation with UMW and Sunday School to
support the Food Bank; holds food, coat and shoe drives; gathers health
supplies for UMCOR; supports Delanco Camp; collects Christmas gifts for
needy children; feeds the homeless in Atlantic City, and collects
various donations for AC Rescue Mission. Our two hometown
missionaries, Lisa Whitaker (YWAM) and Carol Angelo (ASELSI in
Guatemala), are supported both financially and with faithful prayers.

Music
Our choirs (see Choir above) help to lead our Traditional
Sunday Services in the Sanctuary, and our Praise Team leads our
Contemporary Service in the Great Hall.

Nursery
Our Nursery is available for all our Sunday services every week. Ages
for nursery care are infant through 5 years. Contact Sue Reitmeyer

Office Volunteers
All throughout the week, our office volunteers help with bulletins,
newsletters and various mailings. Contact the church office
(609-641-1265) if you’d like to help out in the office.
Our Friendly Visitor
The OFV is our church’s (almost) monthly e-newsletter. To get on
the mailing list or have an announcement included, contact the church

Prayer Chain
Carol McMahon coordinates our prayer chain. If you have a prayer

Prayer Partners
Pastor Ed has over 40 prayer partners who lift him up in prayer on a
daily basis. Each month, the prayer partners receive a prayer list and
pray over that list every day. If you’d like to be one of Pastor Ed’s

Remembrance Service
On the first or second Sunday night in December, we hold a
Remembrance Service in the Sanctuary. At this service, we remember those
loved ones we have lost as we give thanks to God for their lives. To
find out the date and time of this year’s Remembrance Service, contact

Safe Sanctuaries
At the United Methodist Church at Absecon, the safety of our children
is our highest priority. We support and abide by the Safe Sanctuaries
Policy of the Greater New Jersey Conference of the United Methodist
Church for all our ministries with children and vulnerable adults. Click

Senior Center
The Community Center for Seniors meets in our Great Hall every
Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. throughout the year. This
Center is sponsored by the City of Absecon and Atlantic County. Our
church also contributes financially to this service. For more

Staff Parish Relations Committee
The SPRC is the elected "pulpit committee" of our church.
They meet regularly with the pastors so that the direction/vision of the
church can be communicated clearly to the congregation. Questions?

Sunday School
Sunday School meets Sundays at 9:30 a.m. (the Sunday after Labor Day
through the 2nd Sunday of June). Classes are open for 3 years old (by
October 1) through adult. Our Sunday School also presents a Christmas
Pageant in December, and enjoys a family picnic in June. Contact the

Technology
We’re always looking for technological help, whether it’s working
the soundboard, working the chorus computer at the Contemporary Service,
or recording services. If you’re interested in helping, contact our

Tidings is our weekly e-mail newsletter. If you would like to be on

Trustees
The Trustees are the elected, legal stewards of our church facility.
They oversee its care and use. Questions? Contact the chairperson, Gary

Twenty Somethings
Our 20-Somethings ministry serves people from 18 years old
through their 20s. They focus on friendship, practical faith, and
supporting each other in their daily walk with God. They meet regularly
for Bible study as well as mission activities. Check the church Facebook

United Methodist Homes
Our church is an enthusiastic supporter of the United Methodist Homes
of New Jersey. Our primary area of support is through the UMH Fellowship
Fund, which insures that no current resident at the homes will ever be
asked to leave because of inability to pay. We support the Fellowship
Fund through the "Walk for all Ages" event and Communion

United Methodist Women
Our UMW is a group of women dedicated to mission projects (both near
and far), our "Faithful Fingers" prayer shawl ministry, and
the support of our church. They also provide social opportunities for

Unity Dinner
Our local churches come together during the Lenten season to show the
unity of Christ. Barry and Susan Hackett (609-641-1706) are the
coordinators from our church for the annual Unity Dinner, which is held
at either St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church or our church.
Ushers
Our ushers assist in the Sanctuary during worship. They hand out
bulletins, give directions and help to make our worshipers feel welcome.

Weddings
The pastor officiates at weddings for church members and members of
the community. A one-year notice is preferred. Please contact the church

Youth Ministry
Our youth ministry serves young people from 7th grade through 12th
grade through a variety of projects, trips, lessons, and fun! Contact
